Storage formats for stereo materials.

Stereo image pass long time of evolution. Cause many very different stereo-scopic devices were designed, they make a lot of storage formats. Anyway, there are TWO view - for left and right eyes in any format. Unfortunately, most of the pictures and videos HAVEN'T information for determination which stereo-format they stored :-( .

Side-by-side
Left-eye and right-eye views stored as a whole hotizontally (you can see two images, separated horizontally in source). As is the convention views stored: right, left. This order used in stereoscopic image viewer from nVidia (in complect with _stereo-driver_), my program (sView) and mayby others. But images (often amateurish photos) may be stored with WRONG order. In the whole, this is the most handy and most used format (especially for pictures: JPS - jpeg stereo, PNS - png stereo).
How to recognize wrong order?
If you filling strong discomfort with viewing inmage (in stereo) or cann't feel volume, possibly image stored in wrong order. Try to swap views (use hardware switchers or viewer-program options) and feel the distinction (don't forget to take some rest). If wrong order recognized - save the picture in right order _ссылка как это делать в sView_ or just mark the file to remember that (especially if this is the movie). Also, some programs can save user information in special "link" to the file.

Interlaced
In this format left and right views stored non-wholed but line by line: each line correspond to each view vertically in turn. In expressive stereo-volume, this picture in the source (means played not in stereo-viewer) seen like with "noise".

How to recognize/resolve some interlace problems?

Firstly: interlaced formats NOT only for stereo-movies, but many monoscopic materials storaged with some special order - this may VERY confuse user to recognize some videos as stereo and on other side some codecs may DEinterlace videomaterials and break them in viewing by stereoplayer. Look codec's options....
Secondary, left-eye right-eye views order also may setted wrong - use side-by-side instructions to check ritht order.

Over/Under
Left-eye right-eye views stored in whole vertically (it means, you can see two different pictures separated vertically in source). You must check the order too. This is most udes format for movies and mostly not used for pictures.

Anaglyph
This format come specially for viewing devices - color glasses. Views stored in MIX (meaning each pixel stored them both), separation come with color filters on glasses (most used and most old - red-blue eyes). This format is easy-to-recognize with color noise. Unfortunately, stored in this format can not be transformed to other (non color-glasses) devices due to color loss, but this come possible if you also have dedicated full-colored one of the view - you may use some special programs for this.
